The cooperage was build in the 1800's, originally used for barrel making and storage.  In 2020, it underwent renovations, including lifting the structure to build a frost wall and remodeling the interior while maintaining its history (e.g., the majority of the wood interior is original). The kitchen pantry cabinet and barn door were constructed of original barn board from the barn on the property by a local craftsman. The result is a cottage rooted in history while offering convenient modern ammenities (e.g., washer-dryer, dishwasher, heated bathroom floors).

A cooper is a craftsman who produces wooden casks, barrels, vats, buckets, tubs, troughs, and other similar containers from timber staves that were usually heated or steamed to make them pliable.
